Fall is here! Chances are your calendar is beginning to get jam-packed with luncheons, socials, meetings, book club, travel and even a wedding or two. What are you going to wear?
If you’re like many of our clients who come in in a tizzy, freaking out because they have a wedding in 3 days or an event in 3 hours, then you’re going to love this! While we are able to help our clients choose the perfect outfit in as few as 15 minutes, like our client Sue, who needed something to wear to an upcoming wedding, or Elizabeth, who needed a new outfit for a job interview at lunchtime, we can’t always be there for you. But we can always offer you guidance.
Here’s how to plan your wardrobe and get the most bang for your buck:
1/ Get on Pinterest.
You can follow us here: https://www.pinterest.com/stylefinderID/pins/. Use it for inspiration and to create your own pinboard of things you’d like to wear. This gives you a clear idea of what you’d like to wear and a starting point for building outfits.
You can make your own board public or private, so don’t shy away from doing this. It really can bring so much clarity not only to what your style is, but on what you want to wear during a particular season. Do this at the beginning of each season to plan your wardrobe and it will become a wonderful resource for you!
2/ Learn your best colors and styles so you can be assured that you’re buying what’s right for you.
This will help you avoid one-hit-wonders, mistakes and wasted cash. Our style packages cost only a fraction of what you’ll save by knowing what to buy and what to stay away from.
Have you ever thought about working with a style coach? Our StyleFinder ID® certified style coaches are wonderful resources for helping you discover your true style and how to dress for you! More affordable than you might think, working with a style coach isn’t just for Hollywood A-Listers – it’s perfect for you, too! 3/ Plan your wardrobe strategy.
Invest your wardrobe dollars wisely and you’ll reap the return for years to come. Build your wardrobe starting with a great foundation, add in accent items, signature items and your own personal style.
During our personal style packages we create your Personal Image Blueprint that is your roadmap to wardrobe success. We help you to understand what to wear and how to put it all together so that you know exactly what’s right for you.
4/ Buy only items you truly LOVE and can’t wait to wear.
You’ll relish each item when you put them on and ensure that you get your money’s worth.
If you don’t love it or it doesn’t make you feel amazing, why waste your time and energy on it? When an item fits, flatters and makes you feel great, you can be sure it’s going to work wonders for your style!
5/ When you buy something ensure that it goes with at least 3 items you already own (and wear).
For core items, they should go with many more.
Wave bye-bye to one-hit wonders – those items that you just loved in the store but don’t actually go with anything. They’re preventing you from wearing what’s great for you and hogging the closet so you can’t get to the good stuff. When you have a strategy, you’ll be able to spot one-hit wonders a mile away and can steer clear of them, freeing you up to focus on what will help you to build your wardrobe.
When approaching your wardrobe from now on I want to encourage you to look at it as an investment – not only financially, but one that will save you time and frustration as well. Your valuable time and energy are spent managing what you wear and putting together outfits, and everything you bring into your closet can either add to your wardrobe and your life, or subtract from it and cause you frustration, guilt and regrets. And for the rest of your life, you’re going to have to get dressed – why not let your wardrobe work for you, not against you?
