Casual Holiday Style?  Try This…

unnamed-copy-4Quick, your child’s Christmas pageant is coming up – what will you wear? Your husband calls with an impromptu dinner invitation with out-of-town clients – what will you wear?  You received a last minute invitation for a holiday social – what will you wear?

My hope is you already know the answer.

But chances are, you have no earthly idea.  And so you start to rationalize how you can skip it altogether and just stay home in your jammies.

But wait, it really CAN be simple!

Giving your casual, or even upscale casual, looks a quick holiday spin isn’t as complicated as you may think.  In fact, one thing I teach my clients is that it’s LESS about one particular item, and MORE about the entire look.

I want to help you build a few looks that can be the templates for creating many more outfits.  It’s not about having tons of new clothes, but it’s about how what you have can multitask and be worn in different ways!  Take note:

1/ Start with Leggings…red-tunic

Leggings are a wonderful basic but too often they don’t get the respect they deserve.  First, start with leggings that have some substance, NOT leggings that you can see through.  Our ponte knit leggings from Lysse are a wonderful staple and give you the coverage you need, plus built in tummy-smoothing for a sleek look under a long top.

Add in:

  • A fitted top + long cardigan
  • A tunic + blanket scarf
  • A tunic + vest and scarf
  • A long blouse + vest

Then, boots or booties, great jewelry (don’t forget bracelets which can be an added boost this time of year). and you’re set!

unnamed-4-copy-32/ Start with Jeans…

The right jeans can be a wonderful starting point for a great casual outfit.  BUT – and this is a BIG but – the jeans have to be up to date.  Choose a dark wash with a modern fit that will slim you and make you look gorgeous!  Our jeans from Beija Flor and Not Your Daughter’s Jeans are wonderful for dressing up or down.

Add in:

  • A floaty silk tunic
  • A top + vest
  • A top + liquid leather jacket or cardgian

Add in your fave shoes – boots, booties, wedges or loafers and you have an upscale casual look that will take you from dawn to dusk.

3/ Start with Modern Fit pants…vest

Our slim, sleek modern fit pants are the beginning of many great outfits!  Choose a print to kick things up to a new level and see how amazing prints on the bottom can actually make you look – you may just be surprised!

Add in:

  • A top + vest
  • A top + long jacket or cardigan
  • A top + short liquid leather moto jacket
  • A tunic + scarf or necklace
  • A tunic + vest

Add in your fave booties, wedges or loafers for a chic look.  It’s all about proportion!

Dressing for a casual holiday event has never been easier!  Start with one of our 3 wardrobe building blocks and follow this formula to see how many great outfits you can make!

*Block off some time to play dress up and take selfies of your ‘new’ looks!  Next time you get an invitation, you can RSVP with confidence, knowing that your wardrobe has been handled.  Then, just go and enjoy!  You’ll feel amazing, but most of all, you’ll feel like YOU!
