Kids. Work. Spouse. A to-do list a mile long. With all that on your plate, it can be easy to lose sight of who you are anymore. Becoming disconnected from yourself and your style is all too common. In fact, it’s the reason behind our proprietary StyleFinder ID® System and how it got its start in the first place.
Over the years I would hear from women – I don’t have a style; my style is all over the map; I have no idea what my style is. Sound familiar?
But I realized what these women were saying went so much deeper. Saying ‘I don’t know my style’ is tantamount to saying ‘I don’t know myself’. It’s a very uneasy place to be, and can be quite disempowering. So I set out to do something about it.
Saying ‘I don’t know my style’ is tantamount to saying ‘I don’t know myself’.
In my work as a Master Style Coach, I see it as my purpose to help reconnect women with their style, and with themselves. You are your style. It is not separate and apart from you. It’s who you are, and it’s how you express yourself through everything you do. Unless, that is, you just don’t know.
Recently when I spoke to a group of women and asked who had a sense of what their style was, no one – and I mean, no one – raised their hand. Not one woman in a group of 25+ could say that she knew what her style was. This makes me very sad, and the truth is that it doesn’t have to be this way.
I worked with a beautiful new client recently and we discovered that herStyleFinder ID® was Dramatic/Whimsical, Contemporary and her Archetype is The Ingenue. When I sent her the information, her immediate response was “That’s so ME, yet so how I’m NOT dressing.” I knew we had some work to do.
After our first session together, I uncovered a few things. First, she thought that she couldn’t express her contemporary side because it would be too expensive. My take on it? Style comes in all price points. When you know what’s hot and on trend, you know what you need to bring into your wardrobe to bring it current – and it can be done on a budget.
Style doesn’t have to be expensive. Knowing what your style is can save you a ton of cash by avoiding costly mistakes!
The other obstacle was finding clothing to fit. She was between two body types and found it frustrating to know what worked, and to find things that fit. With a little coaching on what the right styles are for her, and what to avoid, she was feeling great! In fact, I received a note from her that she felt amazing as she got dressed following our session, and was being showered with compliments on her new look!
If you’re feeling disconnected from your style and who you are, then I invite you to book a StyleFinder 101 Session at StyleFinder Boutique. Our schedule is quickly filling up this season, but Kirsten and I would love to chat with you to determine how we can help you discover your true style, and dress in a way that is just right for you!
Knowing your true style is not superficial. It is the only way you can express yourself authentically, and show the world who you were created to be! It’s not just about the clothes – it’s about how you show up!
