3 Ways to Wear Your Denim Jacket
Relaxed, casual and always in style, denim jackets are a wardrobe staple that our clients LOVE to wear. And with good reason. A denim jacket is perfect for so many occasions and feels like a second skin – at least when you have the right one. Do you love denim jackets as much as we do? Then chances are you probably have one in your closet. And chances are it has some stories to tell!
I find that denim jackets are very personal. Everyone has a story about where they bought theirs, where they’ve traveled in it and what they’ve experienced wearing it. A memorable concert, a picnic in the park, a mountain adventure… It’s about memories. And it’s one piece that, if you don’t have, you’ll certainly want to get!
Denim is perfect for our early fall weather because it takes the chill off in the early morning or evening, and it adds a certain cool factor to whatever you put it with. Here are 3 ways you can style your denim jacket now, and as the weather begins to cool off.
1/ Over the Shoulders
For an easy, ladylike touch, try draping your denim jacket over your shoulders when you want a little coverage or just to add a bit of warmth. This is an easy way to add a shot of feminine charm to your look without being too heavy.
2/ Denim Double-Take
Are you confused when it comes to mixing denim? Don’t be! It can be super easy and my only real ‘rule’ is don’t try to match your denim. Pair a stonewashed blue denim jacket with gray or black denim jeans, or even a lighter wash blue. Add in a pretty blouse with a fun print or pattern, some great booties and you’re set!
3/ Layered Under a Vest
As the temperatures cool off, you can still rock your beloved denim jacket. Simply add a vest on top! Whether it’s quilted (like this reversible one from Tribal, here), faux fur, or wool, you want to ensure that the look is right. The armholes of the vest should be large enough so that the sleeves don’t bunch, and that the vest should be close to the same length as your jacket.
There you have it! Three easy ways to continue wearing your denim well into the fall and early winter season. You can also layer it under a wrap, ruana or coat if you really want to get some mileage from it. You’ll look chic and right on trend!
